Today, I decided to publish a music video for my song, See, and I’m eager to share a little bit about how this song and the video came together:
I had never felt so at ease. I was basking in the Sun of Bacalar, Mexico, staring at a crystal clear lagoon that stretched out forever to the left and right like a never-ending river. Far in front of me, on the other side, was a land more lush and green than I’d ever seen….

Today, I want to share an intimate live rendition of “Origin.” As I mention in the video, this differs a lot from the album version, which is full of lush sounds, heavy sub/bass, and an awesome drum track. I’m actually rather torn on whether I bust out the full production for the shows, because it’s one of my favorite songs on the album and would be really powerful live! That said, I want to create a lot of dynamics in the show. So many songs are layered with a ton of sound, which means a lot of looping and building up instrumentation on stage (I’ll also need a breather!). My vision is to open the show intimately and create a mid-to-late-show moment that also brings us back down to Earth and reconnects us on a very human level, before we soar back up into space. Hence, this version of Origin.

I’m preparing for shows again, and I’m excited to share my progress as I build the sounds on my midi controllers/drums/music gloves! A lot of my songs are full of layers, and this is no small feat. So, to get some momentum flowing, I threw on my gloves and opened one of the simpler songs I already had prepped.

I’ve been eager to connect more often here and felt compelled to just share a little bit about what’s going on in my world. But, I honestly always feel strange sending out a one-way communication. I want to hear back but I don’t feel that people often want to log into Patreon and make a comment. I wonder if, instead, anyone would be interested in a casual monthly Zoom or Google Hang meet-up, where we can talk about music, life, the universe, everything…?

Today, I wanted to share a short improv piece I performed with my music gloves. In the video, I explain how I’m creating these sounds and dive into an ethereal performance, followed by a poem I wrote for my growing family. This was inspired by a really spacious moment I had while contemplating our baby girl’s arrival. This afternoon, I have an appointment with my Doc to discuss inducing my labor… potentially this week, maybe next. It’s become so real. I’m feeling more spacious, relaxed… I’m pausing quite a bit to contemplate this transition and all of the beauty Zoe will bring.
